Founding Neighborhood Center Director (retired)

Cora White, Founding Badger Rock Neighborhood Center Director, is a 40-year resident of the Moorland-Rimrock neighborhood. Cora is now lending her talents to fundraising for Phase 2 of the Badger Rock Center. A single foster parent licensed by Dane County for 30 years to care for adolescents, Cora has cared for approximately 200 children during the past 30 years. She is the founder of Partners in Foster Care, and has served as that group’s President and CEO since 1988. Cora was the first woman and only person of color in the history of the National Foster Parent Association of America to be elected as its chief executive officer. Among her numerous honors, Cora received the City Of Madison Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Humanitarian Award in 1990 for her racial equity work and has also received recognition for her work with the Great Navajo Nation and other tribes.
