Assistant Farmer, Badger Rock Urban Farm

The Center for Resilient Cities seeks an experienced grower with additional experience in garden-based or outdoor education to work directly with the Farmer-in-Residence in all aspects of chemical-free, year-round vegetable production. Badger Rock Urban Farm is an educational and production farm located on the grounds of the Badger Rock Center, 501 E. Badger Road, Madison, WI 53713. The site also hosts Badger Rock Middle School and is a field site for a UW-Madison School of Urban Agriculture launched in fall 2018.

Growing takes place on the farm, in the hoop house, and in the greenhouse. Under the direction of the Farmer-in-Residence, duties include helping in day-to-day aspects of food production, assisting the middle school garden class and other educational programming as needed, supervising interns and volunteers, assisting with materials sourcing and gathering, and assisting with direct sales of food at Badger Rock Community Market through our weekly farm stand during the growing season.
