Our gratitude to Lisa Peyton-Caire
As we transition to autumn, we extend our gratitude to long-time board member Lisa Peyton-Caire, as she leaves our organization. A Virginia native and Madison transplant, Lisa Peyton-Caire is an extraordinary educator, writer, women’s health advocate, non-profit leader, and change agent. Spurred by her mother’s untimely death from heart disease in 2006, Lisa established Black Women’s Wellness Day in 2008 and, in June 2012, created Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness, a Wisconsin-based non-profit organization committed to mobilizing African American women to pursue and sustain mind-body-spirit wellness, and to raising the visibility and support of Black women’s health as a community and public health priority. We will miss Lisa’s sound judgment and guidance as we move forward with our work, but we look forward to partnering with Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness in the future. Thank you, Lisa!
